We welcome submissions of original and translated literary works that reflect our mission: to publish clear, resonant storytelling across languages and cultures, especially between Chinese and English.

What We’re Looking For

We are currently accepting unsolicited submissions in the following categories:

Original Works Written in Chinese or English

• Literary      fiction (novels, novellas, short story collections)
• Creative      nonfiction and memoir
• Essays      and personal narratives with cross-cultural or diasporic themes

Literary Translations

• Translations      from Chinese into English or from English into Chinese
• Translators      must have the appropriate rights or permissions in place
• Source      material should be literary in nature (fiction, essays, memoir, hybrid      forms)

Bilingual or Cross-Cultural Projects

• Bilingual      editions (Chinese-English)
• Works      that explore identity, migration, displacement, and cultural hybridity
• Manuscripts      that blend genres or cross linguistic borders are especially welcome

What to Include in Your Submission

Please email us a single PDF or Word document with the following:

1. Cover letter (1 page max) 
   1. Brief bio, relevant experience, or publications
   2. What drew you to Clear Voice Press
   3. Summary of your manuscript
2. Project overview 
   1. Title, word count, genre
   2. Is this an original work or a translation?
   3. If translated: confirm you have rights or permission
3. Manuscript sample 
   1. For full-length books: first 3 chapters or up to 30 pages
   2. For short story/essay collections: 2–3 representative pieces
   3. For translation: include original text and English translation side by side, if possible

• Please allow up to 8 weeks for a response. 
• We do not accept submissions via social media or physical mail at this time.

Rights and Simultaneous Submissions

• Simultaneous submissions are fine; just let us know if your work is accepted elsewhere.
• You must hold the rights to your work, including translation rights if submitting a translated manuscript.
• For translations, you must confirm that you have secured appropriate permission from the original author or rights holder.

By submitting your work to Clear Voice Press, you affirm that:

• The work is your original creation, free of AI-generated content, and you have the legal right to submit it (including translation rights, if applicable).
• The submission does not infringe upon any copyright, trademark, or intellectual property rights of others.
• The work does not contain libelous, defamatory, or unlawful content.

Clear Voice Press is not responsible for any legal disputes that may arise from the submission, publication, or promotion of a work found to violate copyright, intellectual property, or defamation laws. Any legal responsibility for rights clearance, authorship, and originality rests solely with the submitting author or translator.

We reserve the right to withdraw a publication or terminate an agreement if such issues come to light after acceptance.
